Color enhancement of refined-bleached used vegetable oils as dielectric liquid: two-level factorial design approach

Number of findings have shown that the used vegetable oils (UVOs) properties can be enhanced by changing their chemical structure and utilized as dielectric liquid in oil-immersed transformers. However, earlier researchers one-factor-at-a-time (OFAT) method for experimental design approach. Nevertheless, they failed to consider possibility combining mixing process parameters at highest ratios could produce a more favorable outcome. Hence, this study, two-level (2k) factorial is applied achieve color reduction UVOs through refining known refined-bleached (RBUVOs). The involved are oil temperature, speed time. Based on results 23 design, it found time temperature has most significant effects reduction, with percentage contribution 35.00% 32.51%, respectively. result also shows best RBUVOs were (80 °C), (1,000 rpm) (60 min). These resulted 79.27%.
